Disability Aid Information Brochure

THE INFORMATION IN THIS DOCUMENT IS SPECIFIC TO THOSE WITH DISABILITIES AND IS IN ADDITION TO THE INFORMATION IN THE ACCOMPANYING YELLOW BROCHURE

The CG-Lock was developed originally for use by sports car drivers and off roaders who have standard seatbelts in their cars, but who use those cars for autocrossing, track days, or other forms of "hard, aggressive" driving.

Customers soon made it clear that the CG-Lock was a valuable tool for those with lower limb disabilities.

Most of the instructions and directions in the yellow brochure apply to those with disabilities. However, please read the information below as well for your safety.

YOUR COMMENTS AND FEEDBACK WOULD BE APPRECIATED! We would like to improve our instructions. Send your comments to: bruce@cg-lock.com. Thank you.

Do not use the CG-Lock if you do not understand any part of the full Safety Instructions or any part of the Installation Instructions.

The CG-Lock does not fit all vehicles. If the CG-Lock does not fit your vehicle, return the CG-Lock with a completed Return Form (see the "Return Policy"). You will receive a full refund for the CG-Lock and shipping.

Appropriate use of the CG-Lock is at the discretion of the user; do not use if there is the slightest question of appropriateness of application, fit, or safety. If you have questions, return the CG-Lock for a refund of the purchase price as described in the Money Back Guarantee.

In the event a CG-Lock is in use in a vehicle at the time of an accident or impact (greater than 1 G stressing of the seat belt), discontinue use of the CG-Lock at once. The CG-Lock should be returned to Lap Belt Cinch, Inc. for a free replacement. A shipping and handling fee may be charged.

A physician should be consulted before using the CG-Lock as a treatment or prophylactic for any type of medical condition, including but not limited to hip replacement, scoliosis, back pain, muscle spasm, fatigue, and the like.

The CG-Lock is not a substitute for parental or caregiver vigilance and common sense.

Installation Instructions

Read and follow the instructions in the yellow brochure carefully. Installation videos are available here.

This version of the CG-Lock does NOT fit all cars.

How To Use

To use the CG-Lock, first make sure the slide bar is in the "ON" (fully forward) position. If it is not, move the slide toward the seat belt tongue until the detent engages. You may need to rotate the thumb lever down slightly to move the slide to the detent.

Buckle the seat belt as usual. If the belt webbing is too short, simply rotate the thumb lever down while buckling.

Once the tongue is locked into the buckle, push your hips all the way back against the seat back. Push hard. Sit up as straight as you can.

Adjust the seat if necessary to maintain proper spacing from the steering wheel and controls.

Sit up straight. Adjust the lap belt low on your waist (as close to your legs as possible).

If you have no feeling in your waist area, place one hand between your body and the lap belt portion of the seatbelt (so you can feel how tight the lap belt becomes.

Grasp the shoulder belt portion of the seatbelt just above the CG-Lock and pull away from the CG-Lock parallel to the lap belt to tighten. Pull hard until you are as tightly held as you want. As a general rule, the tighter the lap belt, the greater the control and stability. However, for your own body, you need to be sure you have not made the lap belt too tight. This is an individual medical and comfort decision. Consult with your physician if you are unsure how tight is too tight.

If the lap belt becomes too tight (or if you need to reach into a back pocket for toll money), simply rotate the thumb lever down momentarily while lifting the hip closest to the CG-Lock, and the belt will loosen.

To exit the vehicle, simply release the seat belt tongue in the usual way and assist the seat belt retractor in rewinding the belt. The weight of the CG-Lock may impede the seat belt retractor. Failure to rewind the belt fully could result in the CG-Lock and tongue being caught in the door when it is closed.

NOTE: Always remove the slide if there is the slightest chance that someone else will be using a seat belt with an installed CG-Lock. With the slide in the disabled position, the seat belt behaves as if the CG-Lock were not attached. Anyone who has not read and understood the Use Instructions and Safety Information should not use an enabled (functional) CG-Lock.
